Glee Says Goodbye: The Graduation! Our Favorite 5 Moments!

Forever Young…that’s how the last episode started with the kids of Glee…and what an appropriate song to commence the commencement process.  (And while we loved this episode we didn’t need nearly as many tissues as we had hoped.  And did anyone else feel the show left a lot of open questions???) It’s been a long road…or not that long really, so true to life.  For those graduating with the class of McKinley High this year, we wish you the best and we wish all your dreams come true.  For those of you, like us, who have long since graduated, and even attended our reunions, may you stay…forever young!

With tears, sadness and joy…these are our 5 favorite moments of Glee: Goodbye!

5. The underclass’ dedication to Finn by singing The Beatles “In My Life”. Pure Gold!

4.Puck graduating from high school! We thought they’d keep him another year…but he did it!

3.Quinn saying goodbye to Coach Sue Sylvester and telling her she’ll miss her!

2. Santana’s mom giving her money for college and telling her to follow her dreams! Santana has easily become one of our favorite characters of the show…and we can’t wait to see what she does with the money!

1. And of course our favorite moment is the closing scene when Rachel says goodbye to all of her friends and hits the streets of New York City…all to the song Roots Before Branches!

And then…they were gone.  We will forever miss them, although they’ll all be back next season in some capacity…but as for the halls of McKinley High…they are gone.  And the rest of us??? We’ll grow older, remember and talk about where we were in our own lives the year the kids of Glee graduated from high school and we’ll move on…and on…and on…surrender. Goodbye.

Out of Our Closet Today 5-21-12: Summer Business

You’re not really one of those types who sits at home but tells everyone else you’re in meetings…just to seem busy! Nope, you’re really not that busy.  You manage your affairs well and your business always banks revenue, so you sleep in late, grab lunch with a friend, maybe a late dinner and a movie.  Naps are always part of your schedule.  You’re not conventionally smart…maybe…you’ve just played your cards well.  Every once in awhile you have to meet up with one of your investors for a “lunch meeting”, which typically consists of 45 minutes talking about their lives, 5 minutes talking about yours and 2 minutes writing the check.  The believe in you…they always have, which is why you never compromise.  In your company there is no such thing as “business casual”, there’s just business as usual.  Why should you dress differently than you ever would normally? Your success has been built on being real and why would you change that now…doing you works!

Style Tip: Always remember that individual style is exactly that…individual style.  Don’t feel that you have to apologize or compromise.  Some people can spend $10,000 on an outfit while others can spend only $10 on an outfit, but that doesn’t mean they can’t get the same effect.  Essentially, the look above could be bought at any thrift store for approximately $10.  When we first began wearing wingtips, one of us bought a pair online for over $100 while the other bought a pair for 90cents! There really wasn’t much difference in the shoes.  Today, we would much rather always wear $300-$400 shoes…but that doesn’t always fit our budget.  Peter adores thrift store shopping and will never stop…ever in search of the greatest vintage concert tee! Make sure you know what you want your style to say and then breath it from your soul!

Jennifer Lopez Has Taken Over: Follow the Leader!

Jennifer Lopez has been showing up a lot lately on DJ Raannt! When we saw her newest video for Follow the Leader…we knew we had to post this as well.  The bitch looks absolutely incredible; from her hair to her style to the sick dancing…all choreographed by who??? Boyfriend Casper Smart! Wow…he’s not just her boy toy after all, evidenced by the incredible dance moves and stunts choreographed into the video.  The video, which was the first ever to premiere on Twitter on May 3rd, features Jennifer in Wisin & Yandel’s song Follow the Leader! Check it out below and watch for Jennifer this summer as she tours with Enrique Iglesias!

THE #SocialMedia List 5-18-12

Last week we were at dinner and one of our friends commented how we were constantly on our phones.  “You guys are like the mavens of social media.  You’re always on Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr or Instagram!” This inspired us to start a weekly “best of” list of our favorite social media accounts…Twitter, Facebook, Tumbr, Instagram, YouTube and Pinterest! Every Friday morning we’ll be posting our favorites from these sites and encourage you to follow these amazing profiles and blogs! This week…our list is quite diverse!

We literally lol laying in bed, reading her tweets.  And if you don’t like her Tweets…”If I’m annoying then Unfollow me.. It’s simple! bitches make so hard” LMAO! While only following 20 people(no, we’re not one of them), she has some 75,000 devoted followers who love to read her sexually driven, McDonald’s and Chipotle eatin’ Tweets…

 

2. Tumblr

We randomly came across Alex’s Tumblr blog and were instantly amazed.  This kid has an incredible eye for men’s and women’s fashion and style! We also follow him on Twitter and Instagram and love his raw honestly and his passion for anything fashion related.  His mixture of photographs as well as his own dialogue, weaving together like “lovely” and “badass” into the same sentence, give him a unique voice in the fashion scene! (By the way Alex…congrats on your new job).  We really think you guys should check him out as we’re sure he’ll be something big someday soon! Also follow him on Twitter at @alexpalmieri1 Oh…and he’s super cute!

 

3. Facebook

Some people are probably going to find it strange that we picked Tom and Lorenzo as having one of our favorite Facebook pages…for 2 reasons.  One, because they run a full service website…which we LOVE! And two…because they’re kind of our competition.  Kind of…But the reality is that they were way ahead of us and we all have to have older mentors, right? We adore their site and love to read everything they post! On top of that…their Facebook page posts everything they don’t post on their website.  Definitely check them out…as well as their website Tom and Lorenzo for celebrity news! (And by the ways boys…we’d love to get together over drinks sometime! xo)

We love, love, love Kaleb Willis on Pinterest! He mixes awesome, class men’s fashion and style with feminine, non-fashion related issues like weddings, flowers and home decor! His eye is incredibly keen and specific, while diverse in his tastes. With more than 400,000 followers, he’s making quite an impact. Trust us…you won’t be disappointed!

 

5. Instagram

Oh how we love Mike Snedegar! We interviewed him a few years back and have been lucky enough to consider him a friend ever since! His Twitter account @MIKESNEDEGAR profile reads “Celebrity Events / Strategic Marketing Ninja – TAO, LAVO, MARQUEE GenerosityWater.org, Party Rocker, Photography, Music, DJ’s” And did we see him on an episode or 2 of The Kardashians??? But lately, it’s his Instagram pictures we’ve loved the most! And not only that…he’s a great follower because he constantly keeps up with liking and commenting on other people’s pictures! He has over 6000 Instagram followers who enjoy his pictures, ranging from Vegas nightlife to gumballs! Definitely check him out!

 

6. YouTube

GaysoftheWeek/Brian and Daniel

 

 

 

 

Last weekend we begin catching up on all of of favorite YouTube channels…but ended up watching countless hours of Brian and Daniel from gaysoftheweek(If you don’t know about this collab channel, check it out…it’s amazing!) We’re not really sure what it is about this adorable couple from Nova Scotia, but it is so easy to watch video after video and never get bored.  They’re hilarious, endearing and loveable! They now live in Toronto and fill their videos with stories from their personal lives as well as giving commentary on pop culture! You HAVE to check them out…you’ll love them!

Out of Our Closet Today 5-18-12: Last Days of School

You try your best to keep your head off of the desk but all your mind can think about is laying out by the pool and catching up on all of the great books you weren’t able to read during the school year…The Hunger Games…Fifty Shades of Grey…The Fault in Our Stars. The professor calls your name and you shuffle your papers together and stand up…its the last presentation you have to give this semester…and then it’s pool time!

Maroon 5…Payphone(ft. Wiz Khalifa) Adam Levine as a Fugitive!

We’ve been huge fans of Maroon 5 and Adam Levine for awhile but our love only grew with the release of the video for their new single Payphone! If it wasn’t enough to see him, once again, in a tank top…this time we also get to see him in a suit and tie! And not only that, but he’s a mistaken fugitive from the law! Could it get any sexier??? Donna Summer’s Last Dance

Donna Summer died today.  To anyone under the age of 30 this probably won’t mean much…but to the rest of us, with her, literally, dies one of the greatest eras of dance music ever.

As a little kid, I spent hours with my best friend Jessie roller skating to Donna Summer’s albums in my driveway.  We would act like we were at the Playboy Mansion and I was Hugh Hefner while Jessie was Donna Summer.  We, Donna and Hugh, were the best of friends and would throw the most lavish parties including, of course, a roller skating dance routine! One of my greatest childhood memories is being stuck inside during a blizzard and we turned my cement floored basement into a roller disco! Donna would have been proud.

My love for Donna Summer probably started when I was 5 or 6 and with it began my life long obsession with celebrities and pop culture.  I watched her as she rose up the charts of the disco scene into country music and even gospel music.  As a gay icon, I think I worshiped her from afar because she was everything I couldn’t be…but lace up those roller skates and turn on the records and I was in the spotlight.  When kids talk today about feeling liberated after seeing Lady Gaga I relate…because Donna Summer was my Lady Gaga.

I walked down into our basement today and pulled out my old records, Bad Girls being my favorite, and even found my VCR copy of the movie Thank God Its Friday! I put the music on in the background while I was working but found myself getting sad.  Another legend gone.

But as the record spins and I watch her dance on my television screen to Last Dance, with that gorgeous sparkling dress and amazing hair, I’m liberated again…knowing that life is much too short and we have to enjoy the party while we’re here!

Which made us wonder…if we could only have one…which would we choose! Serge was right…Definitely the Birkin! Although, the Ralph Lauren Cooper Weekender retails at Ralph Lauren for $3995 while the Hermes Birkin retails on Ebay for $24,995! But while we’re dreaming, who cares…let’s just throw them both on our wish list!

Gossip Girl Rewind…Season Finale! “The Return of the Ring”

Oh yes… GG kisses us goodbye for the summer and leaves us hanging with a bunch of WTFs… What else could we expect from the Gossip Queen herself?

Leave it to the Queen B herself to make anything Tiffany’s seem dirty (her diaries are Tiffany’s, pay attention!)… Her whole life has been scanned and put up by Serena so the whole world could see what truly goes on in Blair’s head.  So let’s start with the never ending love triangle between Blair, Chuck, and Dan.  She finally chooses who she loves and wants to be with, meaning that our last couple of posts were wrong – Dan, you did have something to worry about.  Sorry pal.  Bringing us to what we all didn’t see coming, Chuck turning the other cheek and wanting to get back at his dad.

Seriously! We spent all freaking season with you fixated on this whole search for who your true family is and you’re already trying to take the man down? Come on!! Let us guess…next season you’ll make it your mission to bring Bart down and then you’ll try to repair the relationship you messed up by pretending it never happened? Give it a rest Chuck, go live your life as a rich bachelor and travel the world… it’s about that time.

Ok…so while Chuck and Bart have this weird father and son business thing, Serena and Blair are busy at a) hiding the GG diary post from Dan, b) Blair and her little slaves doing damage control, and c) Serena going after Dan so she could get back at Blair for well…taking Dan from her and getting her movie premier invitation removed.  This time we see their friendship really hit its end and Serena goes back to her crazy wild ways.  Are we going to see a hot mess of S next season? We did see her in a train, doing coke with some ugly druggy at the end…

It is Blair this time that comes out on top of it all! Eleanor pretty much gives her the company and off they go to Paris to plan a strong fashion season.  Were we the only ones who noticed that Blair is going to have to hunt down a fashion designer? Does this mean the return of little J?!!!! OMG we sure hope so!!!  With Blair on top of the fashion food chain, Serena a hot party mess, Dan and Georgina trying to bring down the upper east side, Chuck trying to take down his Dad, and Nate… What is Nate really doing?… This would all be a perfect time for little J to come back!! (We’d ask for the return of Eric as well but we know he’s busy cooking up trouble in the Hamptons of Revenge!)

Ugh! Till next season! Where we hope to see familiar faces from the wonderful past of Gossip Girl!!!

Oh PS! We forgot – Serena sleeps with Dan to try to get back at Blair who doesn’t find out.  Nate is actually on the hunt for the real Gossip Girl, which will make him look stupid.   Lily and Rufus call it quits, another thing we were wrong about! (actually it just happened a bit faster than we thought) and Lola gives Ivy all her money so that she can take down Lily because Lily is set on keeping Carole in jail. And well there you have it, the season finale of the hot fifth season of Gossip Girl. (DVD Release date August 13th, just in time to rewatch the whole season before Season 6 starts up again!)

Nicki Minaj…Right By My Side(Ft. Chris Brown)! It’s Your Summer Bitch!

When Nicki Minaj‘s album Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded was released earlier this year, radio stations and reviewers across the country panned her and gave the album negative views.  We were quite surprised, especially since our butts were already poppin and shakin to Starships…one of our hopefuls as the Summer Anthem of 2012! It was the perfect lead in to laying out by the pool, bonfires and late nights out! Check the official video out below:
