Phi Phi O’Hara is Phucking Phierce! THE Interview!

We just kind of fell in love with her right away.  She was such a nasty, snippy bitch that we found ourselves digging beneath the surface, trying to to find the compassionate soul beneath the layers of makeup and wigs which revealed the genuine Phi Phi O’Hara on RuPaul’s Drag Race.  And it was definitely there.  We saw it in her defensiveness.  We saw it in her absolute determination and drive.  We saw it when she spoke about her distant relationship with her father.  But most importantly, we saw it in her talent.  Phi Phi O’Hara has that natural talent for propelling the spotlight onto herself.  In a way, she, like many of her fellow contestants on RuPaul’s Drag Race, became underdogs, each representing a different type of person.  And that’s probably what we liked most about her…the fact that beneath the glitter and glam making her the Mean Girl of RuPaul’s Drag Race, she really exudes an incredible amount of confidence.  To us..that is totally, phucking sexy! Did we mention he’s super hot out of drag…yeah!

1. Define yourself using five words.

Independent, Beautiful, Determined….hmmm….Snaggle and BITCH!

2. When and where was Phi Phi O¹Hara, the entertainer, born?

I am originally from San Antonio, Texas where I went by the name of Phoenix O’hara.  I decided I needed a bigger city and moved to Chicago where I met Dida Ritz.   She would call me Phi Phi for short and it just stuck!

3. Do you think you should have won RuPaul¹s Drag Race?

Of course!!!!! Haha! But I think Sharon is something the show has never seen nor has it touched an audience with her demographics, so it was smart to elect her as the winner. Am I mad I lost? Heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeck No! Besides, in many reality TV shows and competitions, the runner up and others are typically more famous.  Hahahaha and become WAY more successful!

4.  Looking back, would you have done anything different on the show?

Not at all.  I tell people to never hide who they are.  On the show I was pegged as the alpha omega bitch, which I am TOTALLY nothing like.  However, I am a hungry, determined bitch who wanted to win and there should be no shame in that!

5.  What do you think makes you one of the best drag entertainers?

I don’t think I am one of the best.  I think I am a very good one but I have met some amazing entertainers in my life that just haven’t had their time in the spotlight yet.  I think what makes a great entertainer is being able to put on a show and make it look of quality.  I think a lot of girls just throw on a cheap little dress and prance around on stage.  I feel when someone puts time and energy into a performance then the audience will be captivated, happy, and most of all entertained.

6.  Who are your 3 all-time favorite female impersonators?

All time 3?……I love Chevelle Brooks, Asia O’hara and RuPaul!!!!! (Couldn’t Forget that haha!)

7. Who are three women who inspire your art?

My mom, my sister and now my beautiful new niece, Cecilia.  My mom and sister because they are both strong individuals who go after what they want in life.  My niece inspires me to be an entertainer and an uncle she can say when show grows up..”Wow My uncle is amazing!”

8. What did your family think about your being on the show?

My mom and sister FLIPPED; probably more than I did haha.  They love that I went on TV and shared my story and really went after what I wanted.  I still haven’t talked to my dad and because I was on the show his parents(my grandparents) will no longer talk to me.

9. What has life been like since the show aired?

I knew being on a TV show I would have a slight taste of fame, but the word slight isn’t at all close enough.  I walk anywhere and everywhere and there are fans! I travel so much now and get to see so many places.  I get to produce music with some of the best producers and I got to move to my dream city of New York City!  I tell myself every day that I deserve this but to this day (almost a year after the show) it hasn’t fully kicked in that I am a reality TV star….PS., I get free things wherever I go, whether it be shopping, food, hotels…..YAY!!!!!!! Hahahaha

10. What would be a theme song for your life?

I have been touring with Nicki Minaj’s “Marilyn Monroe” song which really spoke to me with her lyrics.  It  basically says I am not perfect, I never will be, but take me or leave me, this is who I am!

11. If you could only listen to 3 CD¹s for the rest of your life, what would they be?

CD’s?!?! I don’t own any CDs now…….I would bring an iPOD duhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! lol – but if I HAD to chose and don’t laugh…..but Mariah Carey – #1s, Nicki Minaj – Pink Friday Reloaded, and probably Rascall Flatts – Melt.

12. How do you define sexy?

A Naked Latin Man!!!!  Also known as my boyfriend Mikhael! Yum!

13. What is the sexiest city? Club? Hotel? Drag queen? Male celebrity? Female celebrity? Place to have sex?

lol weird…..um….city, Miami for sure!!!!, Club & Hotel…..whichever one I am in!, Drag Queen…PHI PHI O’HARA, Male Celebrity – Christiano Renaldo! YUMM….Female Celebrity -Megan Fox….Place to have Sex….well I am sure Sharon already said cemetery, so I will say in Church! Oh god….Oh God!

14.  Tell us about your boyfriend and what makes him the one.

Because he is great in bed!  Haha! He is amazing he really respects what I do.  He supports me and really pushes me to become the best at anything I do! I am so happy I met him and get to spend my time with such a breathtaking individual!

15. What are 3 things about you we wouldn¹t know by looking at you?

I am CHEAP.  I hate to spend money and I often get into disputes with my friends about why $3.00 is too expensive when I can find it for $1.75 elsewhere.  Haha…..I do a lot of crazy voices when I am bored.  I just make up these weird characters and won’t stop.  I hate seafood and salad……blegh!

16. What are three things Phi Phi O¹Hara always has on her when she travels?

1) Merchandise – So buy it!!!!!!!!! lol 2) Picture of my boyfriend 3) of course my phone.

17. Based on your experience, how real is reality television?

HA……..as real as Chad Michael’s face. Just joking!

18. Who do you think will be the final three on RuPaul¹s All Star Drag Race and who do you think will or should win?

I would say, JuJuBee, Raven and maybe Chad because she is SUCH a professional. I would like to see JuJu or Raven take it.  I was a huge fan of them before the show and now they are really close sisters and genuinely nice, helpful and caring people!

19. What would you like to have accomplished in five years?

It is weird that so many people have asked me this because I have seriously accomplished all my goals and dreams.  I guess the only thing left would be to finally put out my music!!! It has taken forever because I am always on tour and I never have time to get into the studio or make my music video….BUT IT IS COMING!!!!

20. What are your three simple luxuries?

Traveling, car service…haha…and I love great food!

Glee Sneak Peak of Season 4 Call Me Maybe!

Television is very serious in our home.  For that reason, we never read spoilers.  In fact, we only post them after the show as a way for readers who didn’t see a show to catch up on all of the details.  To say that we are uber excited about the premier of Season 4 of Glee would be a huge understatement.  How could the kids leave us hanging with absolutely no way of knowing who went where and what happened??? Fortunately, it’s time for all of us to find out!

We are purposely not reading any of the spoilers, which are already leading up to episode 5, and are waiting to be surprised and delighted with whatever Glee has to offer this season! But…as a little party favor, we thought we’d include post the first official Glee song of Season 4, Carly Rae Jepson’s Call Me Maybe, to get everyone excited.  Yeah, yeah…we’re sick of the song too, but we have to admit it was super fun seeing the kids dance around stage singing the same words to the one song everyone knows! Check it out and let us know what you think.  By the way, we’ll be writing up our opinions and reviews of all of the Glee episodes so stay tuned and see if you agree with us! We’re also going to include little cast facts at the end of each post! Stay tuned…looks to be an exciting year at McKinley High!

Fashion’s Night Out: Indianapolis…A Success!

The success of last week’s Fashion’s Night Out/Indianapolis events can personally be described as revolutionary.  The night was filled with fashion related events throughout the evening and allowed fashion lovers to really express themselves.   The magical minds behind Pattern Indy and SocialClub19 put a team together to jump from hot spot to hot spot to experience the evening as a whole, witness each highlight of the night’s events and share with the world what Indianapolis has to offer with its very first official Fashion’s Night Out.

We started the night at the Indianapolis Artsgarden in downtown Indy for a pre -reception where we were introduced to many fashion bloggers, photographers, venders, sponsors, and designers eager to showcase their work and style.  Pattern Indy couldn’t have picked a better place for the start of the night.  The energy, fueled by the commotion of the city, really set the vibe for the night.

Nightlights TV captured the action, not only at the Artsgarden, but throughout the whole night.  We’ve included their videos to help capture the experience.  (Special thanks to Jason Jolliff of Nightlights TV who made the night especially entertaining!)

Video From The Indianapolis Artsgarden:

From downtown we drove to the Fashion Mall in a stretch Hummer limo, courtesy of A Class Act Limo!

First we stopped at Saks Fifth Avenue, one of our personal faves, watched a fashion show, and chatted with blogger and Indy columnist Leslie Bailey who hosted a blogger/media lounge.

Next, we literally shuffled our butts down to the Nordstrom wing,  where you could really feel the energy of people and vendors celebrating the night.  Tiffany’s and Co. had a photobooth, a DJ and the chicest set up of the night! The beautiful people representing the new luxury development City Way taught us all about what’s new to come downtown, including shops, restaurants and The Alexander, A Dolce Hotel.

From the Fashion mall we went to our second to last stop; the international Indianapolis Airport.  The idea of having a FNO event at the airport really peaked our interest.  The airport relatively  young, huge, open, modern, and in the past has hosted incredible parties.  Needless to say we were excited to see what they had in store for us.  Although it wasn’t what we were expecting, the efforts were definitely showcased.   The problem, for us, was the size of the pop up shops they were showcasing.  Although it was an interesting concept, we think it was probably lost in the planning.  An ongoing fashion show would have been amazing and would have garnered more attention as some people walking by seemed rather confused about the gathering.  It was also a long distance to drive to see several designers who’s work we’ve seen showcased several times before. But…they were extremely friendly and worked hard even late into the night!

The Video From the Airport:

The night wrapped at Blu, where we sat around with our fellow Fashion’s Night Out-ers for the official after party.    We shared our thoughts, opinions, ideas, and future concepts for next years round of Fashion’s Night Out.

Video From the Blu After Party:

Wait…you didn’t REALLY think you were going to get off that easy were you…NOT from the boys of raannt! Hahahahaha…here’s our real thoughts!

Although they would never identify themselves as the real organizers of Fashion’s Night Out, it was obvious to us that Jeremiah Williams of Social Club 19 and photographer Polina Osherov of Pattern obviously had tons to do with making this event a success.  What impressed us most, was that we thanked them several times, and on every occasion they assured us Fashion’s Night Out was a collaborative effort to further the fashion industry in Indianapolis.  Never once did they take full, or really any, ownership of the event.   We found this extremely refreshing because it has been our experience in the past that ownership of fashion events has appeared very important to some people…just saying.  Anyway, you both did an incredible job and deserve a round of applause!

We’d also like to extend a special thanks to our limo buddies who made the night a complete blast! In no particular order…you know who you are! Also, a special thanks to Indiana Vodka who made the end of the night in the limo a more than pleasant ride.  As one young lady mentioned, as she passed the bottle after taking a swig, “It’s so smooth and pure. Where can we buy it?”…It was literally the perfect advertisement! Only classy bitches swig Indiana Vodka! All jokes aside, we made some great friends that night and look forward to many more nights with those folks! Special thanks go out to Dedee Johnson of Forefront Indy! She was so completely endearing and genuine that we couldn’t help but find ourselves intrigued and delighted with her! She completely made our night! Hope you enjoyed your pajamas from Sweet Revenge! (By the way, the corsets designed by Sweet Revenge owner and designer Catherine Fritsch are so incredibly hot, if we were women, we’d wear them every day! Check them out HERE and Catherine..if you begin designing menswear, please let us know!)

And most importantly…who got Best Dressed in Indianapolis for Fashion’s Night Out??? Well, it didn’t take us long to come up with a name.  While we were watching the fashion show we ran into our good friend Laura Greenspan of Louis Vuitton, who was leaving work and catching the tail end of the fashion show at Saks.  She is also a friend of Reka from 100.9 RadioNOW, who was also in the limo with us, and she encouraged Laura to come along with us for the ride around town.  When we stepped outside, we found Laura waiting for us, completely redressed from some clothes she found in her car.  We were amazed! She always looks absolutely incredible, but this night especially, she looked like a columnist for Italian Vogue.  Do you speak Italian Laura…Oh, well…congrats anyway! Definitely look for yourself on our Best of Indy List in December…NOT to mention our annual Sexy List!  Reka and her friend Victoria also looked pretty badass…especially the shoes!

It was also great running into designer Ian Stikeleather, Zoe Renee Ashley Huse, Charles Letbetter, Leslie Bailey and Maggie Conner(of the Haute Hoosier) and her gorgeous sister! By the way Maggie, we totally agree with you on worst dressed: that boy band dressed in the white 1980’s Miami rejects was horrific! Who…would actually wear that crap???

Until next year

Prada’s New Men’s Cologne Fall/Winter 2012: Luna Rossa

Our favorite brand, Prada, has released a new cologne, Luna Rossa, just in time for the fall season.  The name of this new cologne is a dedication to the sailboat and sailing team, Red Moon, or Luna Rossa, who participate in the American Cup sailing competition every year.

One of our favorite elements of this new scent is in the bottle, which is designed to represent a sailing vessel, adding to the authenticity and excellence, always in Prada style.

The distinct smell is being presented as a Fall/Winter smell but definitely is more reminiscent of Spring/ Summer tones.  Nonetheless, it’s spicy, citrusy smell, with a hint of lavender, has made us instant fans!

We’ve included several of Prada’s new marketing strategies behind Luna Rossa.  Please check them out below:

Bob Dylan’s Newest Album Tempest and Newest Video for Duquesne Whistle!

Do you remember the first time you heard Bob Dylan and he resonated with your soul? I do.  I was 14 that summer and my mom and I were visiting her friend Diane who lived on Beaver Island, Michigan, before we would head back to Indiana and I would begin high school in the fall.  Both Diane and my mother had been diehard Dylan fans all of their lives, so it was no surprise my mother had packed several mixed tapes of her favorite Dylan music.  I remember standing at the very front of the ferry as it pushed us across the choppy water from Charlevoix to Beaver Island.  My mom slipped a tape into my Walkman, pushed play and stood back, smiling, lighting a cigarette.  I watched her hair dance in the lake wind as those first few chords of Mr. Tambourine Man strummed through my earphones.  I was hooked.

Later that year I would go to my first Dylan concert.  People criticized the sound of his voice and said he sounded the worst he’d ever sounded. Those same people have continued to criticize Dylan year after year.  They’ve completely missed the point.  I grew up, went to college, all the while listening to Bob Dylan.  I partied to Bob Dylan.  I got sober to Bob Dylan.  I even made love to Bob Dylan a few times!

It’s been some 25 years since that ferry ride across upper Lake Michigan.  Diane and my mom have both passed away and I’m long since graduated from high school.  And yet tonight, as I listen to the first released track, Duquesne Whistle, from Bob Dylan’s newest CD Tempest, being released today, I can’t ignore the feeling that everyone and everything from my youth is still around me.  That…is what listening to Bob Dylan does for me.  He has always released my soul and been a shelter from the storm.  No crackle or change in his voice will ever take away from me the experience that his music has served as a soundtrack for my life.

God Bless You Bob Dylan!  If Not For You!

Check out his newest single and video for Duquesne Whistle below.  And go out and buy his newest CD, dammit!  If you like this track, trust us, the other 9 are just as amazing!

Michelle Obama OR Ann Romney for PRESIDENT?? Come Play Would You Rather!!!

Michelle Obama or Ann Romney for President??? Hmmmm…..Their speeches gave us lots to think about...

Last year we started a little game of Would You Rather on our website, but after offending the Kardashian Klan, we thought we might wrap up the game til a later date.  Well guess what??? That later date is here and we’re ready to play again.  Here’s our question for today!

Imagine that Barack and Mitt had NOTHING to do with the elections and were just simply “husbands” to their power wives.  They wouldn’t be giving speeches at conventions and they wouldn’t be discussing foreign affairs.  No…they would simply be husbands…maybe even househusbands who walk the dog and take care of the kids.  If that were the case WOULD YOU RATHER vote for Michelle Obama or Ann Romney for President???

Leave your comments below and we’ll chime in later in the day and let you know what we think…(You just might be surprised!)

Kenny Chesney’s Come Over…Most Romantic Song of 2012!

“I told you I wouldn’t call, I told you I wouldn’t care but baby climbing the walls gets me nowhere. I don’t think that I can’t take this bed getting any colder.  Come over, come over, come over, come over, come over.”  OMG…We…Love…This…Song!!!! Is there anyone out there that hasn’t felt this way at least once in their life.  The fact that Kenny Chesney so perfectly brings these feelings together in his single “Come Over” doesn’t surprise us…he’s definitely a heartbreaker.  But who cares…the man is country perfection and we love him! Check out the hot as hell video below and let us know what you think!
