When producing/mixing tracks,  how long does the whole process typically take you and what does that process consist of?

Well that depends.. sometimes a can do a track in like 4 hours and sometimes in 4 days. It consist of being creative in making beats and melodies and arrange them in a kind of way that it’s easy to listen to for people, which is a tough job, a track must be and stay interesting to listen to.

DJ Zen Freeman Creates Massive Musical Hooks…An Interview

zen freeman interview main_raannt

Known for his killer mixing & producing skills, DJ Zen Freeman should also be known for his good looks and amazing charm.  This British lad has worked hard at creating a feeling with his music and evolved into a sound that we all love and, honestly, can’t get enough of!  We stole Zen Freeman away from creating and producing to chat about himself and his latest projects! Check out what Freeman has been up to:

zen freeman interview 2_raannt

Introduce yourself using 5 words or less.

Zen Freeman, my real name.

What inspired your collaboration with dBerrie on “Switch”?

Our careers have evolved in the same way just on opposite coasts and we’ve known each other for years. It just made sense to put a track out together.

What is something about dBerrie we wouldn’t know by looking at him?

His mother’s maiden name is Garibaldi and his home telephone number is 917-234-DAVE. No, but really, he broke into the scene years ago and got started as an amazing turntablist, played at some of the best parties in New York City. Way before the whole EDM scene took off.  Now his production skills aren’t too shabby!

zen freeman interview 1_raannt

What is your favorite thing about creating music?

It’s finding that musical hook so massive that it gives you goose bumps, then dropping the track in front of an amazing crowd for the first time. Nothing like it.

How do you define sexy?

I think that sexy is something that’s very hard to define. It could be something my wife says or does, or finding the missing sound for a track, getting into a new car or being styled by Burberry and walking into DJ at an Oscar Party.

zen freeman interview 4_raannt

What do you think is the sexiest city? Hotel? Club? Festival? Body part?

My job has taken me all over the world and I’ve been lucky enough to see some really amazing places. And it might sound cliché, but Spring time in Paris really can’t be beat.

In your opinion, who is the best musician live vs. in studio?

I think Justin Timberlake is an amazing live performer. He has so much talent and really great showmanship. And Calvin Harris, has mad skills in the studio. He can produce all of the vital elements at a top notch level; writer, engineer, top liner. And of course he’s pretty impressive live as well.

If you could master a different genre of music, which one would it be and why?

I think I still have too many boxes to tick in the EDM world.  Nothing beats playing at an electrifying festival.  It’s the most amazing buzz.  I don’t know if I could swap that for anything else musically.

zen freeman interview 5_raannt

What’s next for Zen Freeman?

I just spent a few weeks making music around the clock, only leaving the studio to sleep a few hours or leave town for a show.  I’m very proud of what’s coming out next.  I’m also touring all major US markets, some amazing exotic locations, Europe and South America over the next few months.

What are your three simple luxuries?

Sleeping (preferably not on planes). Surfing. Time at home in LA with the wife and kids.

 W&W interview 4_raannt

Vean aquí a nuestro amigo Moska!

moska interview 2_raannt

 moska interview 4_raannt

¿Qué discoteca crees que es más sexy?

HQ club en Atlantic City

¿Qué playa crees que es más sexy?

¡¿Playa?!

Kristin Cavallari Spills the Dirt on her Fabulist Life! An Interview

Kristin Cavallari 2_raannt

Ten years ago, we were introduced to Kristin Cavallari in a little MTV show called Laguna Beach.  A few years later she took over the main role of LA ‘It’ girl in The Hills and later won over the hearts of NFL fans by marrying into NFL royalty.  Kristin has had an incredible career and now, as a wife, mom, designer, and former reality TV star, she’s entering the world of E! entertainment as an expert on all things Fab as the co-host of The Fabulist! And trust us…Girl knows what’s up!  We had the killer pleasure to take Kristin away from her crazy busy schedule for an interview where she lets us into what her life, her new show The Fabulist and  details on what her future holds.  Check this fab doll out has she co-hosts The Fabulist on E! Mondays at 8:30 ET/PT and see what she had to tell us below!

Kristin Cavallari 1_raannt

Introduce yourself in five words or less.

Loyal, honest, caring, fun, strong

What’s the one thing people know you for (Aside from Laguna Beach and The Hills)?

People might also know me for being extremely healthy. I don’t eat food with any chemicals in it and try to eat as clean as possible.

Define Fabulist.

Fabulist is the ultimate trendy fashion list. To be on the list, it has to be a trend that is here to stay and that most people love.

Kristin Cavallari 3_raannt

What should Kristin fans expect from “The Fabulist”?

My fans can expect to be the first to hear about upcoming trends, and they will get to really see my personality, have fun and help us decide which trends should make the fabulist.

What are some current trends you think are overplayed and what trends have you been excited to see?

I’m excited for white on white this spring and pastels. White on white looks so fresh and clean and pastels are very feminine and sweet. A trend that I’m ready to see go is orange lips. I think the only way to pull it off is if you are really tan and have beautiful bronze-y makeup on. I don’t think they are for everyone.

What do you believe will be the next trend in fashion/beauty?

Thigh high boots will still be really trendy throughout next fall, which I love. Also, florals are big for spring.

How do you define sexy?

Sexy is being comfortable in your own skin and really knowing who you are.

 Kristin Cavallari 4_raannt

What’s the sexiest city? Hotel? Past fashion trend? Current fashion trend? Thing to buy?

The sexiest city that I’ve been to would have to be Rome only because I went there on my honeymoon and had an amazing time. I’ve never been to Paris, but my guess is that is what my answer would be if I had. The sexiest hotel is the Borgo Santo Pietro in Tuscany. It has beautiful grounds and the rooms are amazing. I also went there on my honeymoon. A sexy current fashion trend is thigh high boots… doesn’t get much sexier than that. A sexy past fashion trend is the bandage dress. Herve knocked them out of the park a few years ago. A sexy thing to buy is lingerie.

Kristin Cavallari 5_raannt

What’s next for Kristin Cavallari?

Next for me is filming The Fabulist then having another baby! I also have my shoe line. I’m currently working on Holiday 2014 and Spring 2015 and loving every second.

What are your three simple luxuries?

My three simple luxuries are baths, pedicures, and facials.

E’s Orly Shani is Absolutely Fabulist…An Interview!

orly shani 1_raannt

We first met Orly Shani when she appeared on our TV screens as one of the contestants of NBC’s Fashion Star and now we’re super excited to see this fashion beauty taking over the E! airwaves.  This time around, she will be letting us into the ever changing trendy world of fashion, lifestyle, travel, beauty and more!  We had to pleasure to chat with her about what E!s Fabulist is all about and what to expect from this show,  which we personally want to be part of!  The show will debut on E! Monday, March 17th @ 8:30pm ET/PT.  Meet Orly Shaniwe love her!

 orly shani 3_raannt

1. Introduce yourself in five words or less.

Loving, supportive, confident, extrovert, playful.

2. What’s the one thing people know you for (aside from Fashion Star)?

I’ve been working on my brand tuc+wes for years now, most people know how much I love that and how much each little success means to me. I’m designing a new capsule collection now and it just brings me such joy. It’s my baby.

3. Define Fabulist.

Fabulist is anything new, exciting, and buzz worthy.

4. What should E! fans expect from “The Fabulist”?

They should expect a sexy and fast paced show, chock full of information, humor and exciting guest panelists. The Fabulist is all about shining a light on what’s new…. What’s about to pop in fashion, beauty, travel, fitness and food.

 orly shani 2_raannt

5. What are some current trends you think are overplayed and what trends have you been excited to see?

I could not be MORE over the whole “wearing my jacket as a cape” thing. I don’t think it’s going anywhere anytime soon, but man do I wish it would. Everyone just stands with their arms glued to their sides in fear of disrupting the delicate balance of the “cape.” It’s the most pretentious trend I’ve seen in a while. Not a fan.

I am loving all the new innovative designs in flat footwear though. We always see beautiful heels that torture our feet, but we’re finally seeing some attention paid to flat variety. They came in the form of sneaker wedges in the last few years and have evolved into heavy footed platforms this year. They don’t always work or look sexy, but at least people are trying.

6. What do you believe will be the next trend in fashion/beauty/lux living?

Fashion: Red-carpet-worthy jumpsuits. Gisele wore an incredible beaded lace, Emilio Pucci Jumpsuit on Jimmy Fallon and Julia Roberts wore a Valentino jumpsuit to the Golden Globes. I think it’s a cool alternative and definitely a statement.

Beauty: Eye art. We’ve all seen the plethora of nail art photos on Pinterest and Instagram, I think we’ll be seeing eye art instead. Or maybe it’s just wishful thinking, I’m so over nail art.

Lux Living: We did a feature on The Fabulist about Micro-Apartments in NYC. These apartments are around 200 square  feet and incredibly efficient! The furniture is outrageously expensive but it allows one tiny room to go from a living room, to a dining room, to the bedroom. It’s difficult for non single men, but a cool trend non-the less.

 orly shani 4_raannt

7. How do you define sexy?

To me sexy must be effortless. When you can tell someone is trying with every fiber of their being to be sexy, it becomes less and less sexy and more and more desperate. Rock that mini dress, let those tatas breath, but just be sure to balance the look with a smile and some laughter. The same goes for men, the more confident and relaxed they seem, the sexier they are.

8. What’s the sexiest city? Hotel? Past fashion trend? Current fashion trend? Thing to buy?

I think the sexiest place I’ve ever been is Israel. The people are so beautiful it breaks your heart. They have this confidence about them, this slightly aggressive quality which makes you blush. The women are natural and wild, and the beaches are the most beautiful I’ve ever seen in person.

Past fashion trend: I’m obsessed with the era of the flapper. It was kind of raunchy time, which influenced the style. Women’s fashion was a true reflection of the cultural changes happening after World War I. Women of that time wore loose fitting dresses with no bra, excessive makeup, they smoked cigarettes and drove cars and had lots of casual sex. I don’t necessarily support all those things haha but they were free and I liked how it translated into the fashion.

My favorite fashion trend now would have to be faux fur. Big time luxury brands are getting on board and I love it. Not only because it’s cruelty free but because it’s actually accessible! It used to be a faux pas to wear faux fur, but now the tables have turned!! Luxury brands are making incredibly cool faux fur options and us average joes can actually afford it without feeling embarrassed that it’s fake.

 orly shani 5_raannt

9. What’s next for Orly Shani?

The Fabulist is the next chapter of my life. It marries all of the things I love doing and is already opening door to dreams of mine that were previously closed. I was a style correspondent for E’s Countdown to the red carpet show, and I’m standing there… in a gorgeous Lorena Sarbu gown, holding an E! Microphone, looking over the Oscar’s red carpet thinking,” My gosh. I watch this every year, how am I here?!” I couldn’t wipe the smile off my face for days.

10. What are your three simple luxuries?

My luxuries are actually more beauty products. I am a sucker for face creams and hair serums and fancy curling irons. Really, anything that promises unrealistic results with impossible before and after photos to support their claims, I’ll buy.

Tatiana Boncompagni…The Art of Social Death! An Interview

Tatiana Boncompagni social death 4_raannt

Tatiana Boncompagni is smart, sexy and definitely innovative.  With the release of her most recent novel, Social Death, Tatiana has also collaborated with makeup company Votru Vu, in developing a signature lip stick aptly named “Social Death” which she will be sending out as part of her marketing strategy.   On top of this innovative creativity, she has also captured  fans with her intense ability to weave develop strong, female characters who weave their way through the world of the high society and wealth.  Social Death, which she describes as  “Gone Girl meets Gossip Girl”, proves to give her fans the same excitement they’ve read in her previous novels.  We were lucky enough to go a little deeper into the mind behind the writer and find out what really makes a true socialite.

Tatiana Boncompagni social death 1_raannt

Describe yourself in 5 words.

Imaginative, friendly, athletic, loyal, lighthearted.

Tell us 3 things about you we wouldn’t know by looking at you or reading your work.

I love to exercise—running and yoga especially. I was a swimmer and runner when I was young. I hated competing (I would vomit before meets) but I liked pushing myself to do my best. There’s a saying in yoga—“keep your eyes on your own mat”—that I actually live by. The idea of personal best is one you can carry into every facet of your life.

I love music—anything from Johnny Cash and Van Morrison to Jay-Z and Lorde. My taste in music is eclectic but I must have it in my life. Nothing lifts my sprits like discovering a new song to rock out to.

I never thought I would get married and have kids. I was a pretty late bloomer—physically, emotionally–and couldn’t relate to any of my friends who were obsessed with boys and going to dances in high school. I actually thought there was something wrong with me. None of that stuff really kicked in until my senior year of college. Then it was like, whoa Nelly!

Can you tell us what to expect with your upcoming novel Social Death?

Think Gone Girl meets Gossip Girl. It’s a little dark and twisted but also fun.  The main character is Clyde Shaw. She is a veteran news producer—curvaceous, tough-as-nails—on the wrong side of 35 who comes from a storied New York family and is trying to overcome various addictions. Alcohol and sex, mainly. She gets called to the scene of a crime one morning only to discover the murder victim is the daughter of her billionaire boss—and her best friend since childhood.  That’s the starting point.

What will your fans find similar and different to your previous novels?

I’m still treading in the same waters with this book. I’m still delving into the world of high-society and unthinkable privilege. This book is also more multi-layered and has more plot twists. Plus it is a murder mystery. The others were straight-up fun. This one has more weight to it.

Tell us about the lip-stick tie in associated with the release of Social Death.

I fell in love with the cover image as soon as I saw it. I thought it was really graphic and iconic. The red lip imprint mimicking a bullet wound. Loved that. Someone suggested I send out red lipsticks with my book as part of the marketing campaign. I thought wouldn’t it be cool to have a lipstick named after Social Death? Why shouldn’t we take it one step farther? Votre Vu, the company that made the lipstick, was so great to work with on the project. They sent me three lipsticks and I chose the one that I liked wearing the best and the one I thought Clyde, Social Death’s main character and the star of the series, would wear. Reds can be difficult to pull off, but this shade compliments all skin types.

Tatiana Boncompagni social death 2_raannt

What is your ritual for writing a great book.  What does a day in your writing life look like?

I have three kids so finding time to write isn’t always easy. When I’m working on a new book I generally write from around eleven until 2 or 3 and then again I’ll sneak in some more time, like an hour or half an hour around 5 or 6.  Sometimes I get great ideas when I’m out with my kids, doing school runs or taking them to a play date.

Who are three writers you are addicted to reading?

For crime fiction my favorites are Lisa Gardner, Lisa Unger and now J.K. Rowling (who wrote Cuckoo’s Calling under a pseudonym). I’ve been fortunate enough to correspond with Jane Stanton Hitchcock, Marne Davis Kellogg and Candace Bushnell. They’ve all inspired and encouraged me.

What advice would you give to a writer who wants to be published and famous?

To paraphrase Winston Churchill, “Never give up.” Writing is a tough business. You have to love to write first and foremost; the desire for success has to come secondary to the love of the craft. Otherwise you’ll get your first rejection note and want to quit.

How do you define sexy?

Confidence. Power. Humor.

What is the sexiest city?

Anywhere I can wear a bikini to lunch

Sexiest hotel?

Hotel Costes in Paris. All the rooms are dimly lit—so everyone looks mysterious and gorgeous–and the whole place smells heavenly. They have a signature scent.

Sexiest bar or restaurant?

The Rose Bar at the Gramercy Park Hotel.

Sexiest designer?

Dolce and Gabbana

Sexiest perfume?

Femme by Tiossan

Sexiest movie?

James Bond movies are always sexy. My favorite bond is Daniel Craig and his best is Casino Royale.

Sexiest book?

There are a couple of good sex scenes in 1Q85 by Haruki Murakami.

 Tatiana

What are five things you can’t travel without?

My Nook, headphones, a healthy snack (I hate airplane food), a big silk scarf and a cozy cashmere sweater.

You have said you like to write about fashion.  What are three fashion rules you live by?

Figure out what silhouettes flatter your shape most and stick with them. Don’t follow trends that don’t work for you. For example, not everyone looks great in a peplum….or a crop top!

Better to be overdressed than underdressed.

A Russian woman once said to me, “there’s no such thing as bad weather, just bad clothes.” This can apply to any climate, really.

Since you’ve written all about socialites, what do you think are three rules for being a true socialite?

A true socialite is elegant, worldly, fun and friendly.

What is next for you?

My next book in the Clyde Shaw Mystery series! Working on it now.

What are your three simple luxuries?

Childcare. Organic food. A house in the country where we can get away from it all.

Tatiana’s newest book Social Death will be available March 5th!

Vincent Anzalone’s 100 Days of Summer…An Interview!

100 days of summer vincent profile_raannt

After having finished watching Bravo’s short series 100 Days of Summer, we realized we wanted to interview a few of the cast mates and find out a little bit more about the folks who made us yearn for Chicago in the summer.  Vincent Anzalone was easily one of our first picks.  Good-looking, charming and mildly arrogant, we wanted to find out find out what makes him so damn attractive.  Check out what he told us below.

100 days of summer vincent 4_raannt

1. Introduce yourself in five words or less.

“It’s five words or fewer”

2. What’s the one thing people should know you for?

I have my finger on the pulse of the best hotels, restaurants and nightlife of Chicago.

3. What marks the 1st official day of summer in Chicago?

The first day over 70 degrees any time after May 1…but be prepared for another cold spell (or 5) before summer sticks.

4. What makes summer in Chicago different than any other city?

The shared misery and disgust with winter brings people together. The enemy of my enemy is my friend and our shared enemy is winter, which means this upcoming summer could be one of the best ever.

Sexiest club/lounge right now is Celeste.

Restaurant? Bavette’s…especially downstairs.

To live? Waldorf Astoria and The Gold Coast.

Hotel? Public Hotel for everybody but Peninsula or Four Seasons if you can afford it.

Secret? Fulton Market Kitchen is about to open and it will have the best private dining room in Chicago.

8. What’s next for you?

Most of my focus right now is on my 10 weeks old baby boy Luca Alan Anzalone. My fiancé Jessica does the heavy lifting when it comes to caring for him but I revel in my time spent with him.

9. What are your three simple luxuries?

a. The few moments Jessica and I get to spend alone.

b. Morning espresso from my Nespresso machine…as good as any espresso in Chicago!

c. The BEST thing in my life is the simplest: a smile on my baby boy Luca’s face. Melts me every day, every time.

Thanks buddy!

And make sure to watch Bravo’s 100 Days of Summer on Tuesday 2/25 for a lost footage episode!
