Paris Fashion Week: Saint Laurent Weaves 80’s Grunge with New Millenium Punk!

ysl 1

Over the weekend all of our social media feeds – Facebook, Twitter, Instagram – were filled with, primarily, two things: The snow falling in Paris and the overwhelming reception of the the Saint Laurent men’s F/W13 collection.

At first, we were a bit surprised with the punk rock/grunge look of the line but the closer we looked, we found specific pieces we loved, making the collection all the more beautiful.  The combination of ripped leather skinny pants and jeans with over sized sweaters really made the whole line feel eclectically cohesive.  At times we felt that Ok so this is what Edward Sissorhands would look like if he finally got his hands and then at times we just wanted to wear everything the model was wearing.  An overall young 90s punk rock grunge super star walked down that runway and WE wanted to rock n’ roll with him. Although the show has received some painful criticism for casting especially gaunt, “manorexic” models, we felt they fit perfectly with what designer Hedi Slimane had imagined.  The beautiful darkness of our hidden secrets.  Look closely…because these clothes are our future.

T-Shirt Tuesdays: Burberry

Burberry

Less is more and in this case, Burberry is 100% correct.  The color blocking in this tee is exactly what makes it a must have staple piece.  Its simplicity makes it versatile enough for any casual or formal event.  Throw on a denim jacket with colored pants or a tailored blazer with fitted slacks and you have two completely different looks.  If you know you can never go wrong with Burberry, why go someplace else?

London Men’s Fashion Week 2013: Hackett Shows 007 in Training Meets Young Sherlock Holmes

hackett 1

Hackett’s show for London Men’s Fashion Week 2013 could be a tapestry of haberdashery and argyle, mixed with old school Oxford, wools and wintry elegance.  The show defines blizzard perfection.  The undertone defines classic English literature, where men look mysterious, dangerously smart and confident, provocative in the most silent ways. Hackett adds a sense of currency and style almost mindful of a 007 James Bond in training meets a young Sherlock Holmes.   It is safe to say that we want every single item in this Fall/Winter13 line… including the top hats and thin leather gloves!!! Way to go chap!

London Men’s Fashion Week 2013: Lee Roach Shows Post Apocolyptic Emo Rock Star Simplicity!

london fashion week

Designer Lee Roach showed an amazingly plain and sculpted line at London Men’s Fashion Week 2013.  The line is filled with black and white separates in a classic masculine silhouette with an edginess reminiscent of post-apocalyptic rock star romance.  Buckles and separates make for incredible must have pieces.  Over all a very moody emo rock star vibe!

Men’s Style: The Most Coveted Tee Shirt!

In the last year, we have seen this tee shirt everywhere on the internet.   While knock-offs can be bought for $20 at any online tee shirt store, the authentic Yves St. Laurent men’s tees run anywhere from $200-$700! While we’re all about luxury and think these tees are absolutely fabulous, $700 is a little pricey…even for us.  But we’re not about knock-offs either so we’ve put the newer, grey designs on our wish lists below and are hoping Santa tucks it in our stocking this year! Check our favorite below, which we found paired with Alexander McQueen pants and a cardigan on Matches…one of our favorite clothing sites!!!

Winter with Louis Vuitton! Men’s Scarves!

It is no surprise that we’re in love with everything about this season of Louis Vuitton for men.  The oversized, thick scarves, which could serve as blankets, are absolutely amazing! The colors range from deep camel colors matched with navy blues in great busy prints, burgundy and dark greys, and pops of bright royal blue making this LV season overly desirable! We’ll take one of everything please!!! This winter keep yourself warm and stylish with one of these oversized scarfs or a coat that matches it… because with Louis Vuitton on you, there’s zero way you won’t look your best!

Corduroy is Back! And Tighter Than Ever!

Make it fit like a glove…that’s this season’s trick.  The cold weather signature fabric has come back into our lives, once again, with a slimmer, fitter, and incredibly chic and masculine (yes that’s a thing) look. So pick pieces that compliment you, your style, your look, because this time around the Wales – the little ridges of fabric that gives it texture and makes it cords – have comeback with a look that almost makes it seem like something else other than corduroy. Pick colors that are neutrals and mix well with others so that you can still play with bright colors in the gloomy cold fall/winter days.

Michael Bastian: The King of Preppy 2012 Fall/Winter

The king of preppy men’s wear, Michael Bastian, is starting to introduce extra elements of fashion and style to his newer lines. Last February, Bastian introduced his Fall/Winter 12 ready to wear men’s line and it made many wish for a quicker summer and a longer fall.

This fall and winter,  sensualize your preppy looks, funkaphy your three piece suits, and brighten up those khaki neutrals, because autumn is finally here and ready to take over our closets.

Colored chinos will continue to add more to men’s fashion this fall and winter.  The classic leather will once again take over with perfectly fitted biker jackets and incredible shoes.  Suits take on different fabrics that bring a sense of warmth and comfort to the cold days ahead and sweaters will be more comfortable and more bulky, bringing forth a reminisce of fire places and ski chalets.

Hats off to Mr. Bastian for creating yet another incredible men’s line.  For once, we can finally say we’re happy fall and winter are here!
