Monster Energy is thrilled to announce American DJ Elephante as the headliner for its Fall 2019 Up & Up College Festival series. The four colleges that generate the highest pre-sales in 48-hours will bring the headlining artist to perform at their college towns.
Elephante (Tim Wu) has spent the past few years wowing audiences at major music festivals across the country (including EDC Las Vegas, Electric Zoo, and Hangout Fest) and amassing hundreds of millions of streams worldwide. The Ann Arbor, Michigan-raised, classically-trained pianist and singer-songwriter initially took a desk job before embracing the “Elephant in the room” and leaving office work behind forever to pursue a career in music. His two independent EPs, I Am the Elephante (2016) and Glass Mansion (2018) have won him international acclaim as a groundbreaking presence among dance music producers.
The Up & Up College Festival series first kicked off in 2016 as an electrifying competition that pits colleges against each other in a 48-hour guerrilla campaign to sell the largest number of pre-sales. Each season, student influencers at participating schools create teams and work over two days to motivate their student bodies to pre-order reasonably priced tickets. Top-selling schools win the competition and bring a popular headlining artist to perform at or near their campus. Since its inception, the Up & Up College Festival series has become one of the fastest-growing music properties in college communities across the US.
Washington State and Wake Forest won the 2016 competition, bringing Cash Cash to their schools’ festivals. In the fall of 2017, students at San Jose State, UC Davis, Washington State University, and UT-Austin partied at a performance by DJ/Producer Alan Walker. San Jose State, UC Davis, and UC Santa Barbara battled hard and won the spring 2018 pre-sale contest and brought GRYFFIN to their campus Up & Up College Festivals. Meanwhile, Dayton, San Jose, Lehigh, Ohio Oxford, and Bryant brought Two Friends to their campuses in the fall of 2018. This past Spring semester had Slushii visit Penn State, Alabama, JMU, UNC Wilmington, Iowa and WSU.
The Up & Up Festival Series competition utilizes an innovative ticket sales concept that only charges the credit cards of purchasers should their college win. In addition to bringing trending artists to winning campuses, the the competition is a positive way to bring student bodies together, foster leadership, and spark interest in/provide access to future jobs in the music industry.
“I’m pumped to be a part of the Monster Energy Up & Up Festival!” said Elephante. “I cut my touring teeth on a lot of college shows, so to be able to come back now on such a bigger scale after all these years feels very full circle. Some of the best times of my life were going to shows like this in school, so I can’t wait to bring it back and turn campuses into a zoo for the night.”
Monster Energy will unveil the colleges competing in this fall’s event on August 26, and the 48-hour competition will go live on September 10. The Up & Up College Festivals for this fall’s four winning campuses will take place in October and November.

Organizers for Mamby On The Beach are saddened to announce that the 2019 festival has been cancelled due to circumstances beyond their control. These unforeseen issues include significantly higher than average waters of Lake Michigan eliminating the beach portion of the festival’s intended site. Additionally, the original footprint was affected by the presence of Great Lakes Piping Plover shorebirds, a federally protected species.
Despite working tirelessly with the Chicago Park District and U.S. Fish and Wildlife Services to find a new location, moving the festival at this late a date, while still providing a superior beach event experience, would be impossible and a disservice to fans and artists alike.
Next week, See Tickets will be automatically refunding all online orders in full back to the card used at checkout. Please allow 5-10 business days post the actual refund date for the funds to be credited to your account. Feel free to contact See Tickets US (help@seetickets.us) if you have not received your refund AFTER allowing for those 5-10 business day processing period.
Jam Productions and React Presents give thanks to attendees, fans, and the Chicago community for their understanding and ongoing support.
Never fear Mamby fans, React Presents & Jam Productions always treat their fans with respect and fairly… As much as we’re sad to not celebrate on the beach with everyone, we know their future plans will be greater and amazing!
Mamby On The Beach has revealed its final lineup for the fifth edition, set to take place at the beautiful new location of Montrose Beach, in Chicago on August 23rd and 24th. New additions joining the initial lineup announce include T-PAIN, LADIES OF LCD SOUNDSYSTEM, NONAME, BRYCE VINE, and IRIS TEMPLE.
VIP amenities include access to the Tiki Lounge, a premium drink menu, preferred viewing areas, air-conditioned bathrooms, express lane upon entry, and lake access – a feature unique to Mamby amongst other Chicago music festivals.
Spring Awakening Music Festival threw a 3-day house warming rager that had the Hoffman Estates Major in great spirts came Monday morning.
This year, the Chicago native festival, changed its location to the massive 27 acres Poplar Creek. Some may have liked the new location, others may have not liked the journey there… however way you felt, once you entered the gates of SAMF, you felt nothing but glitter, love, joy, and music.
Getting to the grounds, from the city…which for me, it’s what makes SAMF so special – CHICAGO… was a bit of a journey. Ubers were in the upwards of $130 and about an hour and a half commute, one way. Hopping on the train (The Blue line in this case) took about an hour and 45 minutes and only cost $10 (both ways!). So for our squad, the train was a no brainier. The festival also provided free shuttles from the final train stop to the grounds, dropping everyone off right in front of the gates.
Getting in the festival was amazing. The staff was friendly and helpful, the check-in security staff was kind and thorough. I always believe in the benefits of VIP tickets, and at SAMF they stand true. Speedy entry, designated food and bars and way better restrooms. So next year, and if you’re 21+, get yourself a VIP ticket. It’s worth it! If you don’t, but want to, you can always upgrade to VIP once you’re there. Also, an amazing feature that I have not seen at any other festival was the VIP areas between the two main stages were connected! Providing VIPers the ability to run back and forth, not be stuck in the crowds, have faster food and drink lines and less waiting for restrooms. Which, also takes away from foot traffic in the general area. SMART move SAMF! SMART! MOVE!!!!
We all know the music is amazing, the lineup was filled with heavy hitters and the last minutes changes were the cherry on top! How Spring Awakening stands out among the rest festivals is on how they care for their attendees. Everyone was educated on what protocols to follow, adapted quickly when changes needed to be made (parking on day one – I was told – was a bit hectic), and the level of medics available to care for any emergency was incredibly comforting.
Day one gallery:
As a whole, Spring Awakening 2019 gets a B+! Not to mention I got to celebrate National Bestfriends Day with one of my top 10! Who, BTWs, had never been to a electronic music festival before – The ability to see a festival from a newbie’s perspective is amazing! So next year, grab your bestfriend, plan to stay near the grounds, your energy level and patience will thank you. As always, Spring Awakening was an amazing experience and so happy to call this one of my favorite summer festivals!

And just like that, summer officially starts in the circle city. The Indianapolis 500 kicks off a series of events that define the summer season in Hoosier-ville. The heat, the sun, the constant wonder if it will actually rain, and of course, the unavoidable farmers tan lines – caused by the constant uncertainty of really not knowing it will rain or not!
The 2019 edition of the infamous Snake Pit couldn’t ask for better weather. The morning overcast cleared around the time the green flag was waved and the sky provided enough clouds to not overheat the hearts that thump throughout turn 3 of the Indianapolis Motor Speed Way. The Snake Pit class of 2019 was initiated by Ricky Retro, followed by electro-deep house DJ Chris Lake (personal favorite), next Illenium dropped his classic uplifting beats before the Pre-race traditions and green flag allowed the Indy 500 drivers take over the track.
The music resumed with Alesso taking over the decks. He’s hour and a half set fueled up the energy and brought back to life the rookies that were a little too drunk by the end of Chris Lakes’ set – we’ve all been there. Skillex took over as race day came close to it end. He’s music kept up with the roaring of the cars as they approached their finals turns and the energy throughout the track cheered the victory of Simon Pagenaud. Our Snake Pit will always deliver an incredible time, generate memories that will leave forever; specially the ones that some might forget. Wether the 2019 edition kicked started your summer festivities or provided you with major FOMO, rest assure that better planning (on your part) for the 2020 Indianapolis 500 Snake Pit is undeniable.
