On May 15th, Carl will be making the pilgrimage to San Francisco to perform for the annual Playground fundraiser at The Midway.
Playground has become a musical beacon on the Black Rock City landscape ever since it first emerged from Carl’s private RV in 2014. You heard me right, Carl originated the idea for Playground while attending Burning Man with some friends back in 2008. He found himself playing to more and more burners who’d just pop on his RV for a dance and a drink and he thought to himself, “It’s a bit crowded in here and we have the whole desert to play in…I really should take this outside!”
It’s certainly come a long way since the days in that RV, but the essence and communal vibe remain absolutely the same.
Today, Playground is a fundamental soundcamp at Burning Man for one reason only- burners love it. The team around this camp simply are the best of the best who bring years of creative, logistical and engineering experience to the camp. It’s a massive undertaking to produce and execute something of this caliber and scale out in the desert, but they do it and do it well!
The production, as one could imagine, is superb with great thought given to each last detail- anything that would ensure a stop at Playground is the experience of a lifetime is the goal of the entire team.
This year, the Playground fundraiser will be held on May 15th at The Midway in San Francisco. Carl will be joined by fellow burner and Playground camp alum, Joseph Capriati along with rising techno talent, Enrico Sangiuliano.
Get your cool shades (here are some really cool ones: www.smartbuyglasses.ca/designer-sunglasses/general/ ) ready because Ultra Music Festival will return to its longtime home at Bayfront Park March 20 – 22, 2020, with a stacked roster of talent from across the electronic music spectrum. Following last month’s highly-acclaimed RESISTANCE lineup reveal of artists including CamelPhat, Gorgon City, Eats Everything, and ANNA, the festival has added a multitude of performers to its already impressive lineup.
All live headliners will be making their exclusive Miami Music Week performances, including multi-instrumentalist crossover kingpin Gryffin who careens between guitar and drums, Gareth Emery’s immersive, cutting-edge laser technology in the exclusive Lazerface show of 2020, Madeon’s first ever live Ultra appearance featuring him singing, playing keys and drum pads, and SOFI TUKKER’s ecstatic performance helmed by their custom-designed ‘book tree’ instrument which the duo uses to trigger various samples.
Headlining DJs also making their exclusive Miami Music Week performances include Kygo spinning a special sunset slot in his first Ultra set since his surprise 2017 appearance, and Parisian production cohorts Malaa and DJ Snake making their back-to-back festival debut in their first announced collaborative set of the year. Another headlining exclusive performance will come from KSHMR, who ascended DJ Mag’s Top 100 chart to the number 15 spot last fall, and will now reveal his KSHMR Presents Dharma experience for the first time ever, welcoming fans into his record label’s cinematic electro-house universe. Headlining Ultra veteran Oliver Heldens will return to showcase his bombastic, progressive beats, while hip-hop-meets-techno hybrid powerhouse Loco Dice will once again command the decks at the RESISTANCE stage.
Ultra will continue demonstrating its commitment to innovative bookings with special live performances from acts like underground purveyor Boys Noize, melodic bass juggernaut Ookay, and vocalist-producer sister duo Krewella in their first Ultra set since 2014. The festival will also host debut performances from the likes of Snails B2B Kill The Noise, Thomas Gold B2B Deniz Koyu, Bassjackers B2B Dr Phunk, Deorro, Ilan Bluestone, 1788-L and more. Psytrance duo Vini Vici will make their main stage debut following years of celebrated A State Of Trance performances, while Dash Berlin will make his first festival appearance since relaunching the moniker as a solo project last year. Hot on the heels of his Ultra Abu Dhabi debut, Nicky Romero will perform his progressive house magic at Ultra Miami, and after Sander Van Doorn debuted his Purple Haze alias at Ultra in 2017, his dark trance meets tough techno side project will once again take the festival stage.
The UMF Radio Stage will celebrate its tenth anniversary with the Gud Vibrations label making its takeover debut, while fan-favorites like Revealed Recordings and STMPD RCRDS once again curate their own talent takeovers. Carl Cox will also celebrate the landmark achievement of 20 years at Ultra Miami by hosting his iconic RESISTANCE Megastructure at Bayfront Park during all three festival days for the first time ever, while Armin Van Buuren’s A State Of Trance will celebrate its own decade milestone partnership with the festival.

Making her highly anticipated return to North America this spring, DJ and producer Nicole Moudaber will touch down for 15 dates throughout March, April and May 2019 for what is to be one of her biggest tours yet on this side of the pond. Making appearances at high profile festivals including Coachella, the newly revived Winter Music Conference, Ultra Music Festival Resistance Miami and SXM Festival in St. Martin, coupled with a slew of club dates stretching from San Francisco to Toronto, 2019 is already working out to be an incredibly exciting year for the much-loved artist.
After a stellar 2018 which saw the one woman techno machine tour more than 28 countries to play over 110 shows, Moudaber also found time to launch her charity campaign, ELEVEN, which is aimed at eradicating the barbaric practice of female genital mutilation (FGM). Never one to slow down, Moudaber also already has a heady 2019 release under her belt — a remix of Sasha’s “Vapourspace” for the progressive house star’s Last Night on Earth 100th release compilation album, which premiered on Mixmag in February to wide acclaim.
Returning from her second tour Down Under for the Australian debut of Ultra’s Resistance which saw her play multiple shows across Melbourne and Sydney, Moudaber will kick off her North America tour on March 8 in Los Angeles at Sound before heading to Denver in Colorado to play Bar Standard on March 9. Making her SXM Festival debut in St. Martin in the Caribbean on March 14, Moudaber will then make her way to Toronto on March 23 to play at multi-floor venue, Nest. On March 28, the MOOD Records label head will then journey south to Miami for several dates as well as to partake in a panel on Techno Evolution at the revamped Winter Music Conference. Teaming up with Paco Osuna’s Mindshake Records, Moudaber will join forces with the Spanish techno producer’s label for MOOD vs Mindshake at Wynwood Warehouse on March 29. Reuniting with both Paco Osuna and Dubfire for a rare appearance, the famous B3B will grace the decks at Ultra’s Resistance Miami on March 30 for their first set together since MoodRAW at Avant Gardner in New York in November 2018. Continuing on the tour, on April 5, she will play at Soundcheck in Washington D.C.. Next up, she will head to San Francisco on April 6 to play her first ever open-to-close set in the Bay Area city at the iconic multi-purpose event space, The Midway. Trekking out to Indio, California for the third time, Moudaber will play both weekends of Coachella for its landmark 20th edition at the Yuma Tent on April 12 and April 19. Moving up the west coast, Moudaber will then stop at 45 East in Portland on April 20 before wrapping things up in Houston on April 21 at Stereo Live. The month of May will see Moudaber return to play Movement Detroit on Memorial Day weekend before heading to New York to play all night long on May 31 at 99 Scott.
As the host of her weekly radio show ‘In The MOOD’ which is syndicated in 50 countries on over 85 FM stations with an army of 22 million listeners globally, Moudaber is pleased to announce that she will be broadcasting her show live from the grand finale of International Music Summit in Ibiza on May 24. Setting up her radio studio at the incredible Dalt Vila, the techno titan will be bringing the inside scoop from one of the biggest events on the dance music calendar live and direct from the legendary conference. Providing commentary and a sneak peek into all the backstage action, Moudaber will also be presenting live sets and special guests with a few surprises in store.
Having played at the world’s most revered nightclub institutions such as Avant Gardner, Berghain, DC10, fabric, Space, and Stereo; to massive festival stages, including Amsterdam Dance Event, Awakenings, Coachella, Electric Daisy Carnival, Glastonbury, Movement, Resistance, The BPM Festival and Tomorrowland, Moudaber is in high demand on both sides of the Atlantic. Booked alongside Dubfire and Paco Osuna as the infamous B3B, together they will close out this year’s Saturday night at Movement in Detroit on Memorial Day weekend. With new music on the horizon and appearances at some of the world’s most well-respected dance music events, 2019 is well and truly shaping up to be her biggest year yet.
